Bird Eye Maple is a type of wood best described as Hard Maple and it is a very expensive wood, up to several times cost of an ordinary hardwood. With Bubinga wood, another hard tropical timber, predominantly straight interlocking grain that widely chosen for its distinctive good looks as well as it brighter response. Yet due to its density, Bubinga maintains balanced resonance throughout all ranges of tuning and has an underlying richness and depth of tone that makes it a popular choice!

As we know by now, Dixon is one of the masters maker of snare drums, with its quality range of series from Spark, Fuse, Classic, Artisan Equator to Artisan Chris Brady snare drums.

Chris Brady, the iconic Australian drum builder has partnered with Dixon to make 3 different sizes of rose gum snare drums. Rose gum is much harder, which results in increased resonance and a unique tone. This snare features outstanding acoustical properties that generate a different sound than traditional maple and birch shells.

And furthermore the Dunnett throw-off raises the drums to an even higher level!

Just like Dixon Artisan series drum sets, Dixon Artisan snares are using many selected woods to perform the best sound choices. In addition to woods, it's passionate drum designers also experiment hundreds of metals and different combinations of metals and configurations to build a wide range of sounds that drummers are looking after.

Furthermore, Dixon also created “Hybrid” snares that have metal insertion to balance low-end and high-end frequencies.
