Upclose & Personal: Mapex Armory The Dillinger 14" x 5.5" 8-Ply Maple Snare

The Dillinger is the next Mapex Armory Series of snare I will review. This is another bad boy of Armory Series of Snares that will rattle your drumming ears! 

We had seen last: Daisy Cutter, The Peacemaker, and The Tomahawk.

Mapex Armory The Dillinger 14" x 5.5" 8-Ply Maple Snare

 The name of this snare drums is pretty interesting as compared to the other snare drums as reviewed earlier. This is not based on the "war-time arsenals", this is based on one of the baddest boy and notorious bandit back in the Great Depression Period in the 1930's . John Dillinger is the name (a notorious gangster and bank robber).

The Dillinger is a 14" x 5.5" 6.85mm 8-ply maple shell that can handle all musical assaults but will deliver just as much in return.

Piston Strainer with Vertical Throw-off

The throw-off is smooth as glass to operate, and uses Mapex's Vertical proven design with the Piston Strainer.

For most drummers, a 14" x 5.5" snare drum will be their "go to" drum that could be appropriate for most genre of music. And you would expect, this drum delivers the "crack" of maple that all drummers love. Unlike Mr. Dillinger, this drum is quite handsome. The outer layer maple ply is a highly-figured maple and has a walnut stain finish. - A great looking drum!

Mapex with it's new series released in the recent time, has made the names up-leveling and more younger generation of drummers are paying their attention. Today, what I am going to review is one of their latest series' snare drums - ARMORY Series.
